Will Wyatt, a known pirate, is hanging out in Scotland with his sister until there is no longer a bounty on his head. Trying to find his way in this new place, he never expects to meet a woman like Jonet Montgomery. He is instantly smitten after a stolen kiss.
Jonet Montgomery has been looking for her knight in shining armor and never thought he would come in the form of a pirate. Having been wed to a cheating husband, she does not want to get hurt again. But even with all the warnings from others about Will's reputation, she just can't seem to stay away from him.
When the highland clan must seek shelter with a neighboring clan, Will leads Jonet on a wild adventure. Can she keep herself from getting hurt again or will she let her past haunt her forever?
Having read the other stories in the Highland Hearts series, this story took a different turn. The other stories focused on women that had healing powers and the threats that those powers came with. Although the story included those women as supporting characters, that theme didn't play as big of a part of this story as it did the others. Both the H/H in this story were featured in previous stories and it was nice to see them get their HEA. They have each been hurt earlier in their lives, so they needed to find someone who understood that hurt to be able to really connect. This was a great novella which visited favorites from the previous novels and hints as to what is to come in the next book.
I can't wait for the next book in the series, Crimson Heart, which will feature Searc Munro.
