Knight in Highland Armor by Amy Jarecki

Grieving the death of his wife, Lord Colin Campbell knows that he needs a mother for his newborn son. He petitions the king for help in finding a woman that can be a mother to his son but won't be a danger to his broken heart.  He didn't get what he asked for. Instead he gets the beautiful, young and spirited Margaret Robinson.

Margaret is delighted to find out she is to marry by order of the king, until she finds out that she is to wed the notorious Black Knight. Making the best of her situation, Margaret is determined to make her marriage work. If only her husband would cooperate. Knowing that he is grieving his previous wife, Margaret gives him time to get to know her.

When the two finally seem to be connecting, the Pope calls Colin to continuing fighting in the holy wars. Can their budding romance survive his time away?

I loved Jarecki's Highland Force series and couldn't wait to read this one. While I did enjoy this story, I didn't love it as much as her other stories that I have read.

I really liked Margaret and loved that she was forceful in her determination to be a good wife to Colin.  He was just looking for a mother for his child and NOT a wife for himself. He was still grieving for his wife and didn't want another one but he did need a mother for his son.  Margaret understood this, but knew she wanted more than to just being a mother. She fought for what she wanted and ultimately got it.

I liked Colin too. It seemed that he really loved his wife and needed time to grieve her before moving one. As much as he didn't want to come to care for Margaret, she made that possibility very difficult.
I do look forward to reading the next story in the series which will be out in March.
