The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress by Victoria Alexander

For years it was thought that Lucy Merryweather would marry, Jackson Channing. But that all changes when he goes to England. Making her own way to England, she decides to fulfill her great aunt's list of unfulfilled wishes. With the help of her non-traditional companion, she embarks on her own adventure. Her adventures are almost cut short when she spies the private investigator hired by Jackson to keep an eye on her.

Cameron Effington, a newspaper reporter, has made a deal with his father. If he can produce something worth reading (a novel), then his father will take his career seriously. When he hears about an American Heiress running around London, he decides to make her the subject of his book. He didn't count on her finding him spying on her and thinking he was a private investigator. When she invites him on her adventures, he gets first hand accounts of her exploits.

What happens when Lucy found out that Cameron is not who she thinks he is?

I fell in love with Lucy when I read The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding and eagerly awaited her story. Alexander did not disappoint! I was also happy to see the Effington family again.

I loved reading about Lucy's adventures. She tried to do everything that her great-aunt had regretted not doing. She completely changed her life. Having grown-up in a respectable upper class family in America, she never would have had the opportunity to any of the things that she did. Which her family half way around the world, she was able to become the woman she was meant to be.

I loved Cameron! He wanted his father to see that what he did was meaningful. He found the perfect topic and went after it. He didn't count on falling for the girl he thought would be a spoiled, rich girl. We see his turmoil as the story progresses. He needs to write this book to prove something to his father, but he knows that when Lucy finds out about it, she will be furious.

I hope that this story is the jumping point to Alexander writing about the next generation of Effingtons! I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
