The Mistake by Lily Maxton

15 years ago, Julia Forsythe made a life changing decision. Her father had passed away and with no living relatives to turn to, she decided to become a courtesan leaving the life that she knew behind. Her only regret was leaving behind her friendship with Adam Radcliff.

Julia now finds herself pregnant with her latest protector's child. When she is allowed to spend the next month at his country estate, she couldn't be happier. That is until she runs into Adam who happens to be the estate's head gardener.

Adam can't believe that Julia is back in his life.  He has never forgotten the girl that he fell in love with all those years ago, but how can he compete with the wealth of her current and past protectors?

Julia wants nothing to do with her current protector except for him to provide for their unborn child. Can she do what is necessary for their survival?

This was a very enjoyable quick read. Maxton's stories tend to be shorter than most novels, but don't lack in depth. The story was a nice change of pace as it took place away from the glitter and glam of London. There were very few other characters with the main focus being on the H/H.

I look forward to seeing what Maxton has in store for us next.
